IHBC’s SO Branch conference 2013: ‘New Thinking, new technologies’

The IHBC’s South (SO) Branch has launched its Annual Conference for 2013: ‘Living in a Material World: New Thinking, New Technologies’, which will take place on 29 November in Reading.

Emilia Hands, IHBC’s Vice-Chair and Chair of the South Branch, said: ‘This year IHBC’s South Branch committee decided that we wanted to focus our attention on the changing technologies relating to both traditional and modern materials and their potential use in historic buildings.  This is an area which has experienced considerable advancement in recent years, and where attitudes are shifting as technologies improve – a perfect subject for a CPD event.’

‘We are delighted to be bringing together such a wide range of specialists, and we hope that delegates will enjoy the mix of traditional lectures and hands on learning offered by the day.’

The conference programme includes:

– Asbestos: The Rules and Regulations
– Alternatives to Damp Proof Courses
– Timber Bonding on Site: Structural Adhesives
– Natural and Traditional Paints
– Heritage Style Toughened Glass
– Puttying double glazed windows
– Hemp Plaster and Blockwork
– Limecrete and how to use it
– Paint Strippers and cleaning systems
